My best thought...

My new mantra is.... I’m going to start making the best of things; I’m going to make the best of it. No matter where I am, no matter what I’m focusing on, I’m reaching for the best thought that I can find.

My best thought at the moment is re-aquainting myself with an old friend. Chris. You've always made me feel great and for that, I thank you.

Valentine's Storm....

It's snowing heavily today. I like snowstorms. I'd like them better if I were at home sipping a hot chocolate under a fleece blanket as I watch from a window. Alas, I'm here at work trying to stay warm in this cold empty lobby.

It's Valentine's Day. I've envisioned red roses and lilys coming to me but I know deep down inside they won't show. It's just something I can't shake. Letting that go is too far deep in my subconcious. Virtually impossible.

Single people think that all those with partners will have a wonderfully romantic day today which is so not true. Some of us who've been married for years to unromantic partners have the hardest time with holiday's such as Valentine's Day. Mostly because we think of what we'd like to happen but sadly, it never does.

I don't know why, but I'm feeling down today. Sad thoughts lurking where they shouldn't be, I suppose.
I am grateful for all that I have though.
The Last Words of a Woman - by Robert Browning
I.

Let's contend no more, Love,
Strive nor weep:
All be as before, Love,
---Only sleep!

II.

What so wild as words are?
I and thou
In debate, as birds are,
Hawk on bough!

III.

See the creature stalking
While we speak!
Hush and hide the talking,
Cheek on cheek!

IV.

What so false as truth is,
False to thee?
Where the serpent's tooth is
Shun the tree---

V.

Where the apple reddens
Never pry---
Lest we lose our Edens,
Eve and I.

VI.

Be a god and hold me
With a charm!
Be a man and fold me
With thine arm!

VII.

Teach me, only teach, Love
As I ought
I will speak thy speech, Love,
Think thy thought---

VIII.

Meet, if thou require it,
Both demands,
Laying flesh and spirit
In thy hands.

IX.

That shall be to-morrow
Not to-night:
I must bury sorrow
Out of sight:

X

---Must a little weep, Love,
(Foolish me!)
And so fall asleep, Love,
Loved by thee.

The Million Dollar Test...

Take the test.
I've made my list. I actually came pretty close to spending my million. 905,000.00 to be exact and I didn't buy any overly luxurious items either. No mink coats or limos but just the necessities.

I've managed to pay off my mortgage, buy a couple of brand new cars, invested in my children's education, bought a new shop for Pete to work in and our buriel plots. I even planned a great vacation to Cuba for my family. I also had to put aside about $10,000 for my sister Stella. She's been wanting a new motorcycle for ages now and she'd be speechless if we got her one for her birthday. Rendering her speechless alone would be worth spending the ten grand. LOL

Boy, a million doesn't take you as far I thought it would.
I've also come across DAVE'S website who had come across a really nifty money making scheme. He ended up pulling out of the game about a month into the plan.

If only I could come up with as brilliant an idea as Dave's....
